RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 Eligibility, (Educational Qualification)
As per Para 6.0 and Annexure-A of the notification, candidates must meet one of the following criteria as of the closing date (14.06.2026). Those awaiting final results are not eligible.
Option 1: Matriculation + ITI
- Matriculation / SSLC from a recognized board.
- AND ITI from NCVT/SCVT in trades like: Fitter, Electrician, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle/Diesel), Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration & AC Mechanic, Electronics Mechanic, etc.
Option 2: Matriculation + Apprenticeship
- Matriculation / SSLC.
- AND Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the above-mentioned trades.
Option 3: Diploma or Degree
- Matriculation / SSLC.
- AND 3 years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering (or a combination) from a recognized institution.
- Note: A Degree in the above disciplines is also acceptable in lieu of a Diploma.

RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 Selection Process & Exam Pattern
The recruitment process consists of 4 stages as per Para 12.0:
1. First Stage CBT (CBT-1)
- Duration: 60 minutes | Questions: 75
- Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark per wrong answer
- Subjects: Mathematics, Mental Ability, General Science (10th level)
- Qualifying Marks: UR/EWS-40%, OBC/SC-30%, ST-25%
2. Second Stage CBT (CBT-2)
- Duration: 2.5 hours (Part A: 90 mins, Part B: 60 mins)
- Part A (100 Qs): Mathematics, Reasoning, Basic Science & Engineering.
- Part B (75 Qs): Questions from relevant trade (Qualifying only, 35% needed).
3. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- Mandatory for ALP. Must secure a T-score of 42 in each test battery.
- No negative marking. Only in English & Hindi.
4. Document Verification (DV) & Medical Exam
- Final Merit: 50% weightage of CBT-2 Part-A marks + 50% weightage of CBAT scores.

Q1: Can I apply for more than one RRB ALP?
Ans: No. As per Para 1.5, candidates can apply to only one RRB. Multiple applications will lead to rejection and debarment from future exams.
Q2: Is LASIK surgery allowed for the ALP post?
Ans: No. As per Para 3.0, candidates who have undergone LASIK surgery or any other surgical procedure to correct refractive error are not eligible.
Q3: What is the medical standard required for ALP?
Ans: The medical standard is A-1, which requires 6/6 vision without glasses, normal color vision, and no physical disabilities.
Q4: Will the exam fee be refunded?
Ans: Yes, if you appear for the First Stage CBT. UR candidates get ₹400 back; SC/ST etc. get ₹250 back (minus bank charges).
